Concattedrale di San Paolo Apostolo
Sull’Acropoli, al di sopra di un antico ierone, sorge la cattedrale di San Paolo con l’attiguo Vescovado. Entrambi gli edifici, di origine altomedioevale, si presentano attualmente con le forme assunte nel corso del XVIII secolo, in seguito a consistenti ristrutturazioni che culminarono con la costruzione di una nuova fronte progettata da Jacopo Subleyras.
L’interno a tre navate con presbiterio rialzato conserva, tra l’altro, preziosi reperti cosmateschi del 1222 e la celebre reliquia dell’Ostia Incarnata: una particola eucaristica divenuta miracolosamente carne umana tra la fine del 1227 e gli inizi dell’anno successivo.
Nel vicino Episcopio, all’interno del costituendo Museo diocesano, si conserva un pregevole affresco con il ritratto di san Sisto I martire, dipinto nel 1585 dal giovane Cavalier d’Arpino.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
Located on the top of the Acropolis, on the site of an ancientierone, is St. Paul’s Cathedral and the adjacent Bishop’s Palace. Both buildings, dating from the early Middle Ages, now show the profile received by relevant restoration made in the 18th century which led to the construction of a new facade on the project of the Jacopo Subleyras.
The three-naves interior with an elevated presbytery houses valuable Cosmatesque remains of the 1222 and the well known relic of the Miracle of the Eucharist: a piece of Eu-harist miraculously became human flesh between the end of 1227 and the beginning of the following year.
In the nearby episcope, inside the diocesan Museum, there is a valuable fresco with the portrait of St. Sixtus I martyr, painted in 1585 by the young Cavalier d’Arpino.
圣保罗大教堂
在雅典卫城的古老圣地之上，矗立着圣保罗大教堂和相邻的主教区。这两座建筑都起源于中世纪早期，目前我们所看到的建筑群是在18 世纪，经过大量翻修，最终由当时理念超前的设计师 Jacopo Subleyras 设计并完成。
教堂内部有三个中殿和一个地基略高的內殿，其中保存了珍贵的1222年的 “cosmatesca”（一种由多色大理石镶嵌的富有想象力的形状图案） 和著名的化身圣物：一个在 1227 年年底和次年年初之间，奇迹般地变成了人肉的圣餐的圣饼饼块。
在附近的主教府教区博物馆内有一幅珍贵的壁画，上面画着圣西斯图斯一世（san Sisto I）的殉道者肖像，壁画由当时正值年轻的Cavalier d’Arpino于 1585 年绘制。
